Come And Drink

Come and Drink is a series about a God who shows up to his own party uninvited. The Feast of Booths was supposed to celebrate God's wilderness provision — water from the rock, shelter in the desert, the presence that sustained Israel when nothing else could. But when the one to whom all that provision pointed walks into the feast, he has to sneak in because the hosts want to kill him. Over three weeks, we will watch everyone form an opinion about Jesus — his brothers, the crowds, the leaders, the officers sent to arrest him — and every one of them will get something wrong. They judge by appearances. They assume they know where he comes from. They argue about his credentials while ignoring his claims. And then, on the last and greatest day of the feast, Jesus stands up and shouts: if anyone is thirsty, come to me and drink. The whole chapter forces a single question — will you stand with the crowd debating Jesus from a distance, or will you come to him thirsty?
